Reception to celebrate new book, "Mapping New Jersey"; Thurs. Oct. 22nd

Rutgers University Libraries and the New Jersey Studies Academic Alliance invite members of the Rutgers community and the general public to a reception to celebrate the publication of "Mapping New Jersey: An Evolving Landscape" by the Rutgers University Press. The reception will be held on Thursday October 22, 2009 at 4 pm at the Scholarly Communications Center lecture hall, on the fourth floor of the Alexander Library, on College Avenue on the Rutgers University campus in New Brunswick.

"Mapping New Jersey: An Evolving Landscape" editors in chief Maxine Lurie and Peter Wacker and cartographer Michael Siegel will be present and will discuss the project, and will be available to sign copies of the atlas, which will be sold at a discount.

"Mapping New Jersey: An Evolving Landscape" is the first interpretive atlas of the state in more than a century. Tracing the changes in environment, land use patterns, demography, transportation, economy, and politics over the course of four centuries, "Mapping New Jersey" illuminates the state's transformation from a simple agricultural society to a post-industrial and culturally diverse place inhabited by more people per acre than anyone else in the country.
