What might library instruction sessions cover?

A basic library class may include:

  • Overview of the Rutgers libraries system

  • Course Reserves and Borrowing policies
  • Getting books and materials from libraries within and outside Rutgers
  • Searching the library catalog (IRIS)
  • Choosing a database and searching Indexes and Databases to find articles
  • Using electronic resources

A more advanced library class may include:

  • Focusing a topic of research
  • Using advanced search techniques to find materials on a topic in the library catalog, Indexes and databases, electronic resources and Websites.
  • Navigating subject-specific information or publications
  • Attributing and citing information, academic integrity, and plagiarism
