Registering with the Rutgers Libraries

Rutgers students, faculty, and staff must register with the Rutgers University Libraries in order to

  • Borrow books
  • Use Rutgers Request or Interlibrary Loan services
  • Use your IRIS "MY ACCOUNT" to renew books or check your library record and messages.

To register you will need to supply your Rutgers NetID and your barcode (if available). You will be issued a PIN as part of the registration process.

Rutgers NetID: The username associated with your Rutgers email account. If you have a Rutgers NetID and do not remember what it is you may look it up using the NetID Query. If you do not yet have a Rutgers NetID you may Create an OIT Email Account and NetID.

Barcode: The 14-digit number beginning with '29030' or '25145' found on the back of your Rutgers ID or RUConnection Card.

PIN: A four-digit personal identification number issued by the Libraries.

You can register your barcode or get a PIN immediately by visiting or phoning the Circulation Desk of any Rutgers library.

Or, you can submit a request to a team of Rutgers Libraries staff by filling out the "Registering with the Rutgers Libraries" form. You will normally receive a new PIN within 48 hours, excluding weekends and holidays.
